Step1Hit the drugstore or beauty supply center to pick up your tools: base/top coat, tip guide strips, neutral polish and white polish. Neutral polishes are very pale, sheer shades with a pink, beige or peach cast. Consider kits that offer everything in one convenient box.

Step2Clip, file and shape your nails. Tend to your cuticles, then wash and dry your nails completely. Apply the base/top coat and let it dry.

Step3Peel off a guide strip and affix it below the tip of a nail, following its natural curve. The guide will allow you to paint an even white tip with ease and precision.

Step4Decide where to place the guide strips based on the length of your nails. In general, the longer the nail, the longer the white tip should be. Make sure that the arch of the guide is smooth and rounded and that the tip lengths are all relatively consistent.

Step5Paint each nail tip white, extending the brush stroke from the top of the guide to the end of the nail. Take care not to get any white polish on the body of the nail below the guide. Let the tips dry.

Step6Remove all the guides. Dissolve leftover adhesive by rubbing it gently with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

Step7Apply two coats of the neutral polish, letting the first coat dry before the second application. Finish with a thin layer of base/top coat.
i do mine at home most the time, and have been for about 4 months now...i've gotten a lot better with practice, but it takes a very steady hand and a lot of practice! now they look about the same as when i get them done at a salon, but at first they looked bad like lumpy and uneven...good luck!
i have the kit at home, and it's not hard, you might screw up the first time, but then you'll get the hang of it.
You can if you buy a kit. Although the kit will cost you around 6-8$ and it won't look nearly as good.

A french is only about 5 extra at a salon, so 15-16$ total.
if you go to most beauty supply store they have to kit to do it your self... Sally's Beauty Supply is where I go
its very easy to do just follow directions if you have any
Definitely you can, I had a hard time though when I did mine... it takes a lot of patience!
I think it is hard!!
get the kit from wal mart
You're cheap.
